     McCafferty, Dennis

    He is a cellist, conductor, director and teacher who took his further education at Butler, Indiana State and Roosevelt Universities from the late 1960s with other studies taken at the Aspen Music Festival, Banff School of Fine Arts and ensemble musicians from the Cleveland and Juilliard Quartets.   Since venturing out on his career in music he has performed nationally and internationally with numerous ensembles and orchestras as a chamber musician and a recitalist and these include the Aire Born Strings, the Bellingham Festival Orchestra, Faulkner Chamber Players, the Fourte Ensemble, the Friends Chamber Series, Indianapolis Chamber Players, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the Linden String Quartet, the Pollensa Festival Chamber Orchestra and Suzuki & Friends.  In 1999 he became a co-founder of the University of Indianapolis’ New Century String Quartet with other musicians such as the violinist Susan Chan.  As a music director he has been seen leading the University Chamber Orchestra of the University of Indianapolis.  A busy recording musician he has appeared on several album recordings that include Seasons Change by Ray Boltz, Timeless Broadway by Daniel Narducci, Stand by the Denver & Mile High Orchestra, Americana by Tim Zimmerman & The King’s Brass and A Day for Rejoicing: An Anthology of Sacred Songs by Frank W. Boles and Sing to the Lord New Songs!  He has also featured as a cellist for Music K-8.  In the field of musical education he is a private tutor and also on the faculty of the University of Indianapolis where he is a chamber music coach and a cello teacher.
