He has been a lay clerk at Saint Alban’s Abbey and The Church Cathedral, Oxford, choirmaster at Sudbury’s St. George’s RC Church Choir, a master of music at Ealing’s Saint Benedict’s Abbey and as a singer he has worked with many choral ensembles such as the Finzi Singers, the Gabrieli Consort, Oxford Camerata and the Schola Cantorum of Oxford.

In 1996 he founded the boys choir the London Oratory School Schola and has directed them through numerous concerts and recordings. These recordings including appearances on the soundtracks of films such as Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings and Sleepy Hollow.

In 2002 he took on the position of choir manager for the Monteverdi Choir and in 2003 he became the Director of Music at Washington National Cathedral.

His arrangements and compositions have been heard at various events held at the Washington National Cathedral including the inauguration of George W. Bush and the funerals of Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan.

His recordings are numerous and include Classical Brubeck by Dave Brubeck, Britten: Choral Edition Vol. 3 with the Finzi Singers, Once As I Remember… with the Monteverdi Choir, Purcell: Full Anthems and Organ Music by Oxford Camerata, Children of Our Time with the Schola Cantorum of Oxford, Heaven’s Happiness by Voces Oxoniensis, America the Beautiful by the Washington National Cathedral choirs, Leonin and Perotin: Magnus Liber Organi by the Westminster Cathedral Choristers, the new stage production recording of Jesus Christ Superstar, Les Miserables 10^th Anniversary Concert.

In the field of musical education he has also been on the faculty of the Philip Cave Workshops.
