    Messiter, Malcolm (1949-Present)

He is An English oboist who began playing the oboe while attending school in Dorset, England, in 1964.  He studied at the Paris Conservatoire on a scholarship followed by the Royal College of Music in London.  On leaving the Royal College he became principal oboe for the BBC Symphony Orchestra followed by the same position in the London Mozart Players.  He began to concentrate on his solo career which saw great success.  He has performed in at least 51 countries, has recorded for several different labels, he is a co-founder of The Virtual Orchestra  and in his efforts to manage his solo concerts he wrote a computer program called TRANS-SEND which is now a successful business that is used by over 3 million users.  Alongside his solo engagements he also plays principal oboe with the London Festival Orchestra and the English Classical Players and several other British orchestras.
