     Meyers, Julian

He is a saxophonist, flautist, ensemble leader, composer and teacher born in New York who studied for his degree in commercial music and jazz at Mannes College of Music.

Getting his name known for his performances as a sideman with jazz ensembles and solo acts from the 1990s, he has found himself playing with artists and groups such as Sweet Georgia Brown, B.T. Express, Charles Carrington, Gang Starr’s Guru, Dizzy Gillespie, the Emma Kemp Quartet and Woo Chang Lee.

After having led a number of jazz ensembles such as Julian Meyers Koncept and the Julian Meyers Quartet, he is often seen at gigs in jazz venues throughout New York City.

In 2005 he ventured out as a solo recording artist and released his debut album Emergence, which features his own compositions such as “Black Narcissus”, “One Such Moment” and “Farewell to Joe” which is a tribute to the artist Joe Henderson.   Two years later he appeared with the group Seguida on their 2007 release Seguida III.

In the field of musical education he teaches students in the public school system in New York City.
