He is a saxophonist, flautist, ensemble leader,
composer and teacher born in New York who studied for his degree in
commercial music and jazz at Mannes College of Music.
Getting his name known for his performances as a
sideman with jazz ensembles and solo acts from the 1990s, he has found
himself playing with artists and groups such as Sweet Georgia Brown, B.T.
Express, Charles Carrington, Gang Starr’s Guru, Dizzy Gillespie, the
Emma Kemp Quartet and Woo Chang Lee.
After having led a number of jazz ensembles such as
Julian Meyers Koncept and the Julian Meyers Quartet, he is often seen at
gigs in jazz venues throughout New York City.
In 2005 he ventured out as a solo recording artist and
released his debut album Emergence, which features his own
compositions such as “Black Narcissus”, “One Such
Moment” and “Farewell to Joe” which is a tribute to the
artist Joe Henderson. Two
years later he appeared with the group Seguida on their 2007 release Seguida
III.
In the field of musical education he teaches students
in the public school system in New York City.
