     Missin, William

    He is a countertenor, choral director and teacher born in Newcastle, England.  He took his studies at the Royal College of Music and New College Oxford and became a professional singer. 

     

    He has performed as a soloist or group member with numerous ensembles that include The Clerks Group, the English Consort, the Finzi Singers, Gabrieli Consort, the King’s Consort, the Monteverdi Choir, Orlando Chamber Choir, Oxford Camerata, The Sixteen and The Tallis Scholars. 

     

    He has also appeared with several orchestras and choirs such as the Birmingham Bach Choir, The Choir of New College Oxford, le Concert d’Astree, Nottingham Bach Choir and Orlando Chamber Choir on a national and international level. 

     

    An active opera singer he has performed in productions by composers such as Benjamin Britten, Paul Frehner and Christoph Willibald Gluck.  His work in other productions includes him being an alto chorister in TV’s The Veil of the Temple and an operatic castrato with the Royal Shakespeare Company. 

     

    Very familiar with the recording studio, he has appeared on albums that include Thomas Tallis: The Complete Works – Vol. 6 by Chapelle du Roi, Matthew Locke: Motets, Anthem and The Oxford Ode by The Choir of New College Oxford, Matthias Greiter: Passibus Ambiguis (Fortuna Desperata) by The Clerks Group, English Romantic Choral Works by The Finzi Singers and Lamentations by Oxford Camerata. 

     

    As a music director he currently conducts the Ramsey Choral Society and in the field of musical education he teaches at the Wisbech Grammar School in Cambridgeshire.
