He is a saxophonist and flautist who was born Tom
Mitchell to a musical family and grew up in the American Midwest. He began to play the saxophone
after a visit to New Orleans and took a particular interest in Creole music
and at the same time he attended the University of Miami School of Music. Performing with many bands from
Haiti after he moved to New York, he became a touring and recording member
of Jimmy Buffett's Coral Reefer Band in 1994, starting with the Fruitcakes
Tour. He has appeared on 15 of
Jimmy Buffett's albums including Barometer Soup, Banana Wind, Far Side
of the World and Meet Me in Margaritaville. On the musical education side of
things he has held a workshop at the River Music Experience. He has recently been performing and
arranging for the EAS Band.
