Multi-instrumentalist most closely associated with The
Sir Douglas Quintet and The Grateful Dead, although he has also worked with
Chuck Berry, Blue Cheer, Mother Earth, and Quicksilver Messenger Service.His main instrument is the
saxophone, but he also plays drums, flute, harmonica, harp, horn, maracas, and
marimba, and contributes background vocals if he's not out of
