He is a guitarist and songwriter born in Rutherglen,
Scotland, and the brother of the producer Matt Nicholson and the
singer-songwriter Hugh Nicholson.In 1976 he joined his brother, Hugh, in his band Blue and would
remain with them as their guitarist and a songwriter until they broke up in
1979.With them he would
appear on their only chart hit "Gonna Capture Your Heart" and work with
Elton John on two of their albums.In 1984 he began working and writing in collaboration with his two
brothers on the project and album Radio Heart, where he would work
alongside the new wave artist Gary Numan and Elton John once again.This album released three singles
and then no more happened until in 1994 when Gary Numan would be the
vocalist on his co-written "Like a Refugee (I Won't Cry)" which was
released under the band name Da Da Dang.Today he is still heard on various Blue reincarnations
with Hugh Nicholson and Ian MacMillan.
