    Nordstrom, Craig

    Bass clarinetist from Denver, Colorado, who attended the Catholic University of America and Northwestern University and studied with Donald Ambler, Lawrence Bocaner, Anthony Gigliotti, and Jerome Stowell.

     

    In 1979, he joined the Boston Symphony Orchestra.  Other groups with whom he has worked include the Boston Pops, the Boston Symphony Chamber Players, the Chicago Civic Orchestra, the Cincinnati Symphony, the Colorado Philharmonic, the U.S. Marine Band, and the Vancouver Symphony.

     

    The BSO appeared at Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor, Michigan, on 16th March 1983, when they performed “Symphony No. 1 in C major, Op. 21” by Ludwig van Beethoven and The Firebird by Igor Stravinsky.

     

    On 16th October 2011, the Boston Symphony Chamber Players took the stage at Jordan Hall on the campus of the New England Conservatory in a program that comprised “Serenade for Strings, Op. 22” by Antonin Dvorak, “Sextet for Piano and Winds” by Bohuslav Martinu, and “Mladi” by Leos Janacek.

     

    Recordings on which he appears include Carl Reinecke:  From the Cradle to the Grave, Chris Botti in Boston and Holiday Pops with the Boston Pops, and Le Monde du Serpent with Thomas Yeo.

     

    In the field of music education, he has served on the faculties of the Boston University College of Fine arts, the New England Conservatory of Music, and Tanglewood Music Center.
