He is a French horn player
who was born into a musical family and grew up in New
England. He started to play the French horn
when he was 11 and by the time he was 12 he was playing with the Norwalk
Symphony. He won a scholarship
to study in France
and went to Fontainebleau when
he was 15. He attended the New
England Conservatory on a full scholarship and after having been given auditions
by the Boston and Chicago
Symphonies, he played with the Boston Symphony Orchestra for 11 years. He was instrumental in the creation
of the Empire Brass Quintet and became a member of the Canadian Brass in
1986. He stayed with them for
twelve years before leaving in 1998 to take up a position teaching at the University
of South Florida .
