Violinist who
made her professional debut with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra when she was
only eleven years old. The
prize-winning phenom then emigrated to the U.S.
where she attended The Curtis Institute of Music and The San Francisco
Conservatory.
In 1987, she
appeared on the Concerto Soloists Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia’s
Christmas album, Gloria! Gloria!. She joined The Philadelphia
Orchestra in 1990 as a member of the first violin section.

and groups with whom she has worked include The Brandenburg Ensemble, Yefim Bronfman, Chamber Music West, Leon Fleischer, Jaime
Laredo, Murray Perahia, The Philadelphia Chamber
Music Society, The San Francisco Chamber Ensemble, Alexander Schneider, The
Theatre Chamber Players of The Kennedy Center, and The Utica Symphony
Orchestra.
As a recording
artist, she appeared on an album of music by composer Thomas Whitman
entitled At the Still Point. Hirono
also gives private music lessons and serves on the faculty of Temple
University.
