    Prochart, Edwin (1966 – Present)

    Violinist from Vienna, Austria, who attended Konservatorium Wien Privatuniversitat and studied with Grete Biedermann from 1976 to 1984.

     

    Groups with whom he has worked include Barockensemble der Wiener Symphoniker, Salonensemble Alt Wien, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and Wiener Concert-Verein.

     

    On 19th June 2010, Salonensemble Alt Wien appeared at Helmut-List-Halle where they performed Joseph Lanner’s “Pesther Walzer, Op. 93” and “’s Hoamweh, Landler, Op. 202”, Johann Strauss’s Hungarian gallops, and Johann Strauss II’s “Aus der Heimath, Polka-Mazur, Op. 347”, “Ich bin dir gut” from  Jabuka and “Im Pawlowsk-Walde, Polka francaise, Op. 336”.

     

    The Vienna Symphony Orchestra and the Eroica Trio interpreted Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Concerto for Violin, Cello and Piano in C major, Op. 56” on 8th November 2011 in Foellinger Hall at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts.  The concert concluded with Johannes Brahms’ “Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 73”.  They reprised this program on 14th November 2011 at Lincoln Center in New York.

     

    In between, on 13th November 2011, also at Lincoln Center, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra offered up Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 7 in A major” and Sergei Rachmaninoff’s “Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor” with Lise de la Salle at the keys.

     

    Recordings on which Edwin appears include Arnold Schoenberg’s “Kammersymphonie No. 1, Op. 9” and “Suite, Op. 29/Verklarte Nacht, Op. 4” with Wiener Concert-Verein.
