discovered the violin at three years of age and began performing when he
was four years old. He attended
the Guildhall School of Music, the Paris Conservatoire, the Salzburg Summer
Academy, and Washington University. His teachers included Pierre Doukan, David Takeno, and Denes
In 1995, he formed
the European Camerata, which he cobbled together
with alumni from the European Union Youth Orchestra. He joined the London Symphony
Orchestra in 1996.

April 2007, he and pianist Tom Blach teamed up
for a recital at Erasmus Huis in Kuningan, South Jakarta, that comprised Johannes Brahms’ “Sonata No. 3 in
D minor, Op. 108”, Cesar Franck’s “Sonata in A
major” and Robert Schumann’s “Sonata in A minor”.
He was the
guest director of the Scottish Ensemble in March 2008. The recital, which took place in
Perth, featured double bassist Edgar Meyer Giovanni Bottesini’s
“Concerto in B minor”, David Diamond’s “Rounds for
String Orchestra” and his own “Quintet”.
