pianga” from Rinaldo, Pietro
Mascagni’s “Intermezzo” from Cavalleria rusticana,
and Giacomo Puccini’s “Un bel di vedremo”
from Madama Butterfly.
July 2007, they offered up Henri Dutilleux’s
“Metaboles”, Maurice Ravel’s
second suite from Daphnis et Chloe,
and Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s “Piano
Concerto No. 1”, with Barry Douglas at the keys.

October 2011, they were at Lincoln
Center for an
all-Sibelius concert that comprised “Symphony No. 2 in D major”
and “Violin Concerto in D minor”, with soloist Nikolaj Znaider.
They were back
at Lincoln Center on 21st October 2011 for a performance of
Ludwig van Beethoven’s Mass in
D major (Missa Solemnis)
with the London Symphony Chorus.
February 2012, they returned home to the Barbican for a program that
included “Concerto for Orchestra” by Bela
Bartok, “Concerto for Violin and Orchestra” by Erich Korngold,
with soloist Leonidas Kavakos,
and “The Isle of the Dead” by Sergei Rachmaninoff.
They teamed up
with the Ladies of the London Symphony Chorus and Christian Tetzloff on 29th April 2012 for a concert
that featured “Symphony No. 4” (“The Poem of Ecstasy”)
by Alexander Scriabin, “Three Nocturnes” by Claude Debussy, and
“Violin Concerto No. 1” by Karol Szymanowski.
May 2012, they presented a wall-to-wall Stravinsky affair that comprised The Firebird, Mass, and “Violin Concerto in D major”, with
soloist Leonidas Kavakos.
