Composer and
percussionist from Astoria Queens in New York who studied at the Manhattan
School of Music and began playing professionally at the age of
sixteen. He landed a gig at the
Waldorf Astoria and played percussion and vibes for the likes of Tony
Bennett, Carol Lawrence, Julie London, Johnny Mathis, and Frank
Sinatra.
In 1970, he
made the great egress to L.A. and wound up doing quite a bit of film and
television work. His
filmography includes Grease 2, The Little Mermaid, Rocky II, and Shogun. TV credits
include Barnaby Jones, Bosom Buddies, Happy Days, Laverne and
Shirley, Little House on the
Prairie, Major Dad, and The Tonight Show.
He has been a
member of Dave Angel’s Big Jazz Band and the Jim Morris Band,
although he is best known for his own ensembles, which have varied in size
from three to five members.
His album
releases comprise Easy Street, Groovin’ Easy, Home Cookin’, Journey, Mellow Pickin’, New Directions, Pasquale Square, Reflections,
and Vibe Man.
He is also
active as a live performer, appearing at venues such as Jazz at the Merc, with Easy Street pianist John Rodby,
and Spazio in Sherman Oaks, California.
