     Rutherford, Christian

He is a horn player, organist and teacher born in England.  He started his professional career performing with groups such as the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble,  and the English Chamber Orchestra and would later spend a six-year period with the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.  After leaving the opera house his interest tended to veer towards the playing of period pieces and to this end he could be heard with the Ancient Academy of Music, The Wind Soloists of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Collegium Music 90 and the English Concert.  Working as an orchestral contractor he has also worked with many artists such as the acclaimed film composer John Barry.  As an organist he performed at the Holy Trinity, Sloane Street and in 1998 became the Director of Music and Choir Director for the Little St. Mary's in Cambridge.  Heard on numerous recordings his albums include Johann Sebastian Bach: Brandenburg Concerti with the English Chamber Orchestra, Haydn Symphonies, Handel: Orchestral Works and G.F. Handel with The English Concert, Brahms: Choral Works with the Monteverdi Choir and Mussorgsky: Pictures at an Exhibition and Eine Kleine Brass Musik with the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble and Beethoven: Music for Wind Instruments by the Wind Soloists of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe.  In his teaching career he currently tutors horn students in Cambridge, England.
