    Schneider, Michael

He is a recorder and flute player as well as artistic director and conductor born in Germany.  His career began after he was successful at a competition in Munich.  He became a musician with the Camerata Koln and as a soloist and director of La Stagione Frankfurt.  He became a professor of the Hochchule der Kunste in Berlin in 1980 and also holds a leading post in the Hochschule in Frankfurt.  He has given courses on early music and is renowned for rediscovering neglected masterpieces that include works by Scarlatti and Beck.  As a recorder virtuoso he has recorded the entire repertoire for this instrument and he was awarded the Telemann prize for his musical achievements.  He has guest conducted with the North West German Philharmonic, the Israel Chamber Orchestra and the Zurich Chamber Orchestra among others.
