He is a singer/songwriter and percussionist who became a
member of the group Musical Youth when he replaced the group's founder,
Frederick Waite, on lead vocals.The group had their major hit with "Pass the Dutchie" and
they had song collaborations with artists including Donna Summer and Jody
Watley.He left the band in
1985 to pursue a solo career, releasing the album "Imagine That"
where he wrote seven of the songs, ex-Musical Youth member Junior Waite
wrote one, and Stevie Wonder wrote and produced two for him.Plans for a reformation of Musical
Youth were put on hold in 1993 after the death of group member Patrick
Waite.In 2001 he reformed the
band with Michael Grant, and in 2003 they did a nostalgia tour.In 2005 they performed as a duo,
under the name of Musical Youth, in Austria.
