    Shannon, Deirdre (22nd March 1971-Present)

She is a singer born in County Meath, Ireland into a music loving family where there were five siblings who she performed with at local events and in the church choir.

She started to learn the piano when she was 9 years old after taking lessons and when she was older she took studies at the Dublin College of Music from 1992 and received tutelage from the singer Mary Brennan who was her vocal trainer.

In the early 1990s she was a touring member of the Dublin Institute of Technology Choir and after initially setting herself up in business as a textile designer she ventured out into a professional career in music as a member of the Irish ensemble Anuna in 1996.  The following year she was given a role in Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance as Erin the Goddess and she toured the world with the show for more four years.  She also toured as a soloist in the production of Celtic Woman in 2006 and 2007.

Since then she has performed on several American TV shows, The Jools Holland Show and on the soundtrack of the Irish documentary series The Island.

Throughout her career she has performed in the company of many acclaimed artists that include Air Supply, The Canadian Tenors, The Chieftains, Elvis Costello, Michael Crawford, Jamie Cullum, Bob Geldof, Brian Kennedy, and Dionne Warwick.

No stranger to the recording studio she released her first self-titled album in 2006 and hr second album Anamceol in 2011.  She has also performed We are Not Islands and Remember Me by The Celtic Tenors (her brother Matthew is one of the Tenors), If You’re Irish by Frank McNamara, Derek by Derek Moloney and on the CDs and DVDs Celtic Thunder: Storm and the Celtic Woman: The Greatest Journey Essential Collection.
