     Shelley, Kim

    She is a timpanist/percussionist and teacher who studied at the St. Louis Conservatory and School for the Arts. 

     

    In her professional career she has performed with the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra and has held the position of Principal Timpanist/Percussionist with Minnesota Symphony, the San Francisco Symphony, the Illinois Chamber Orchestra, Monarch Brass, the Illinois Symphony and the Opera Theater of Saint Louis. 

     

    As a guest soloist she has been invited to perform with many other orchestras and ensembles which include the University of Missouri-Columbia Orchestra, the Millikin Percussion Ensemble and the Saint Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra among others. 

     

    Often appearing at summer festivals she has been a musician at the Grant Tetons, Shenandoah Bach and Wintergreen Music Festivals and has also been part of the Lancaster Festival Orchestra. 

     

    Also turning her hand to directing music, she has led the percussion ensembles from the Saint Louis Symphony School and Parkway West High School.

     

    Making many recordings she has featured on over 30 albums such as Holiday Brass with Susan Slaughter. 

     

    As a teacher she has taught many pupils in the Saint Louis, Missouri, area, where she was the Director of Instrumental Music at Whitfield School, has taken masterclasses in Missouri and Iowa and currently holds the title of Assistant Band Director/Percussion Specialist in the Clayton School District. 

     

    She also holds memberships of the College Music Society, Arizona and Missouri Music Educators Associations and is the treasurer for the Percussive Arts Society’s Missouri Chapter.
