     Smith, Charlie

He is a drummer and guitarist born in Scotland.  Around 1970 he was a member of the bands Dream Police and The Poets and in the mid-70s was briefly a member of the chart-topping group Marmalade.  In 1977 he joined Blue in their new line-up and performed on their only chart single "Gonna Capture Your Heart" which was a No. 18 hit in the UK and reached No. 88 on the Billboard chart in the US, with their production, keyboards and backing vocals being provided by Elton John on his Rocket Label.  He would also appear on the albums Another Night Time Flight, Fools Party and Country Blue.  After the band relocated to Los Angeles following the unsuccessful release of Fools Party he went back to re-join Marmalade in 1980 when he performed on the US release Marmalade.
