     S., Robin (27th April 1962-Present)

She is a singer-songwriter born Robin Stone in Queens, New York, who started to sing in the church as a child.

She took vocal studies when she was just eight years old and from the time she was fifteen she was singing at clubs in New York.  She was the lead singer of The New York Soul Syndicate for 7 years and later became a member of Top Shelf, which was when she was essentially “discovered” by two producers.  She recorded a few demos for them in 1990 and released her debut single using her real name of Robin Stone.

After initially having success in Sweden with her “Show Me Love”, she was snatched up by Back Beat Records with whom she released the single and her debut album in 1993, both entitled “Show Me Love”. Both of them found her success, becoming chart hits.  The single making #1 on the Hot Dance Singles. #4 on the Rhythmic Top 40 and #5 on the Billboard 100 with it also entering other American charts.   It also charted in UK and other countries in Europe.

She released her next single, “Luv 4 Luv” which became another chart hit and then the next hit from the album was “What I Do Best”.  This success brought her an invitation to perform at the American Music Awards and she won 2 awards at the 1993 Billboard Awards.

She spent the next few years concentrating on writing songs, but she returned to the studio in 1997.  Atlantic Records released her second album From Now On, which produced the singles “It Must Be Love” and “Midnight”.  They both made it to the #1 spot on the Hot Dance Club Play chart and entered other charts to a much lesser degree.

In 1999 a remix of “Show Me Love” charted on Hot Club Dance Play and a further remix was released in 2002, which was a minor hit in the UK.  In 2004, she successfully toured Europe, where she remains a popular artist.  In 2008 she and the artist called Honest, released yet another remix of her “Show Me Love” and this reached the #1 spot on the Dutch chart.

Her songwriting and songwriting has been used for many movie soundtracks, which include B*A*P*S, Space Jam, and Dr. Dolittle.  She is also set to appear in the 2010 movie Out In the Desert.

Now based in Georgia, she gives regular performances at concerts at ‘90s era music clubs and on various cruises.
