Stotijn, Ruud

Percussionist and teacher who has been a member of the Capriccio Salon Ensemble, the Netherlands Radio Chamber Philharmonic, and the Netherlands Radio Symphony Orchestra.

On 21^st December 2002, the Netherlands Radio Symphony Orchestra and Groot Omroepkoor rang in the holidays with Roel van Oosten’s “Quatre Noels Anciens”, Arvo Part’s “Cantus in memory of Benjamin Britten”, Alexandre Tansman’s oratorio, Isaie, le Prophete, and Ralph Vaughan Williams’ “Fantasia on Christmas Carols”.

The Netherlands Radio Chamber Philharmonic presented “Haydn en Parijs” on 23^rd November 2007. The program comprised the master’s 82^nd and 85^th symphonies and “Celloconcert in D, Hob.VIIb:2” with soloist Pieter Wispelwey, and was capped off with Jacques Offenbach’s “Ouverture La fille du tambour-major”.

Ruud teaches at the ArtEZ School of Music and his students have included Sebastian Brauchle, Matthijs van Driel, Ruud Roelofsen, John Sonderen, Albert Straten, Peter Wolterinck, Maarten Zaagman, and Chiel Zomer.

Recordings on which he appears include the Capriccio Salon Ensemble album, Portrait. He played vibraphone on Olivier Messiaen 4: La Transfiguration de Notre Seigneur Jesus-Christ and Olivier Messiaen: 1908-1992 and xylophone on Goffredo Petrassi: Concerti per Orchestra.
