He is a country singer-songwriter, guitarist and

his father wasn't teaching maths in Pearsall. His parents split up when he was still young and he stayed
with his father.He started
taking an interest in music and when he was in high school he became a
member of a rock band.This
wasnt to be his style though and he veered towards country music. He went on to attend Southwest

of several relatively unsuccessful singles. After playing in a bar managed by Erv Woolsey who had
worked for MCA, and becoming friends with him, Erv pulled some strings to
get MCA to come out and listen to George and the band and he was signed up to
the record label straight away, with the band still performing his back up
and later tours.His first
single release in 1981, "Unwound" found its way into the Top 10 of the
country chart and after his third single "If You're Thinking You Want a
Stranger (There's One Coming Home)" went to No. 3 in 1982 there was no
looking back.Often nicknamed "King
George", he has also been called "the King of Country" and "a living legend" in some circles and
