Stuermer, Daryl Mark (27th November 1952-Present)

He is a guitarist who was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and began playing guitar at the age of 11.  He was discovered whilst playing with his band Sweetbottom and was recommended by George Duke for an audition to back up jazz violinist Jean-Luc Ponty with whom he recorded four albums.  He replaced Steve Hackett, in the band Genesis, in late 1977.   He has also played with Phil Collins in his solo career and he was described by Phil Collins as a "permanent-temporary-part-time member" of Genesis who went to a "permanent-touring-recording" member of his new group.  He has also co-written several songs with him and has recorded five solo albums.  Other artists he has appeared with are George Duke, Joan Armatrading, Frida Lyngstad of Abba, Philip Bailey as well as Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford in their solo careers.
