    Sundqvist, Ake

    He is a drummer, percussionist, singer, composer, producer and arranger born in Boden, Sweden who sometimes goes by the nickname of “Schunk and has been credited as Ake Sunquist. 

     

    In 1970 he ventured out on his professional career as a member of Stefan Nilsson’s band Kornet.  He later went on to become a percussionist for ABBA and performed with them on every tour.

     

    In 1985 he became a house-drummer for the ANC-Gala and performed in a reunion of The Original ABBA orchestra.  He was also a backing singer and drummer with Nils Landgren Funk Unit during the 1980s.

     

    From the 1980s he became a sought after drummer and percussionist and has racked up a long list of artists he has lent his talents to.  As a result of this the numerous albums he has performed on include the promo compilation ABBA, ABBA Greatest Hits Vol. 2, ABBA Live, Opus 10, Super Trouper, Voulez Vous and The Visitors by ABBA, Wrap Your Arms Around Me by Agnetha Faltskog, Bella Notte by Dan Hylander & The Raj Montana Band, Kornet and Fritt Fall by Kornet, Streetfighter and Live in Stockholm by Nils Landgren Funk Unit, Captured by Tomas Ledin, Get On Up! and Let’s Do It! By Little Mike & The Sweet Soul Music Band and Get Here by Brenda Russell, Traffic by Janne Schaffer, Coast to Coast by Westlife and Keep on Rollin’ by Jerry Williams.

     

    As a songwriter he co-wrote Oh Mama which was recorded on Mats Ronander’s Himlen Grater for Elmore James in 1992.

     

    His work in the movies has included composing for the films Gunnar Govin – en man, en rost, en resa, Deathly Compulsion and Fatimes Tredje Hemilighet and appearing as a musician in ABBA in Concert.

     

    He has recently been a member of Rebel Dela Questa.
