He is a singer-songwriter and actor born Benjamin Simon
Taylor who grew up in Manhattan and whose parents are the singers James
Taylor and Carly Simon.His
sister Sally is also a musician.His education was received mainly in boarding school where he
learned how to play the guitar, and then he left whilst in the 9th
grade and travelled round Asia and Europe.While still a teenager he recorded a cover of "I Will",
originally by The Beatles, and this ended up being on the soundtrack to Bye
Bye Love.Around 1997 he recorded
his first album Green Dragon, Name a Fox, which remains unreleased
but followed it up in 2001 with his newly formed the Ben Taylor Band releases
Famous Among the Barns and EP#1.Changing his sound from what he described as "neo-psychadelic
folk funk" to a more acoustic style he recorded his 2005 Another Run Around
the Sun with the actor and album's producer Kevin Bacon on bass guitar
and his mother and sister as backing singers.2006 saw him releasing a further EP, Deeper Than
Gravity and a further album, The Legend of Kung Folk Part 1 (The
Killing Bite).Albums by
other artists he has appeared on include Banana Wind by Jimmy
Buffett, I Can't Help But Wonder Where I'm Bound by Tom Paxton, Coming
Around Again and Bedroom Tapes by Carly Simon, Too Many Years
for the charity Clear Path International who concentrate on survivors of
land mines.As an actor he has
been seen playing parts in the British TV show Always and Everyone
and in the US show American Dreams.
