Singer-songwriter
who has written hits for artists such as Melissa Manchester, Neal McCoy and
Nana Mouskouri. For her efforts, she has twice won SESAC’s “Songwriter of the Year”
award. In 2002, she won the
SESAC Legacy Award.
“How Can
I Help You Say Goodbye”, a #1 hit for Patty Loveless, was nominated
“Best Country Song” at the Grammys and “Song of the
Year” by the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music
Association. The song has also
been covered by Laura Branigan, Al Jarreau and Jeane Mason. “Not
That Different”, another chart-topper for Colin Raye,
was named SESAC’s “Song of the
Year”.
She has also
had success as a vocalist, singing backing vocals for Al Green, George
Jones, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers. Not content to remain in the
background, her own singles have charted nine
times. She owns her own
merchandising, music publishing and record companies. In 2001, she released a CD entitled On Angel’s Wings, which comes
with an accompanying book.
Her songs,
like her public speaking events, are meant to inspire. It is no wonder, then, that her
services have been sought out by the American Business Women’s
Association, Harmonizing with Humanity, The National Hospice Foundation,
The Planet Earth Project and U.S. Bank.
In February
2009, she released The Life
That’s Chosen Me. It
seems that life chose right.
