He is a percussionist, drummer, conductor and teacher
who studied at the University of Alberta,
the University of Victoria
and Santa Barbara’s Music
Academy of the West.
In 1977 he joined the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and
has since performed as a freelance musician with several Canadian
orchestras and ensembles that include Edmonton Wind Ensemble, Royal
Winnipeg Ballet and the Saint Crispin’s Chamber Ensemble and lent his
talents to several radio and televison shows.
He is involved in the jazz scene in Edmonton
and has performed in theatres with the Edmonton Opera. He has also played in musical
productions that include Aspects of
Love, Evita, Grease, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, the
King and I, Oliver! and Phantom
of the Opera and accompanied artists such as Tommy Banks, Harry
Belafonte, Anne Murray, Procol Harum and Quartette among
many others.
In the field of musical education he joined the
faculty of MacEwan
College in 1981 and has held
the position of Section Head of Drums & Percussion. He has also been a teacher at the University
of Alberta’s Summer Jazz
Camps and MusCamrose, a clinician at events such
as the Edmonton Cantando Festival and at an
adjudicator at events such as the Red Deer Festival of the Performing Arts.
