with school chum, Jay Beckenstein.
He received a

field of Music Composition a Master of Music degree at Purchase College in
the discipline of Studio Composition.
Jeremy wrote a
goodly amount of Spyro Gyra’s
output, including the Grammy-nominated “Shakedown”. He appears on most of their albums,
although in the 1990s, his participation with the group was limited to
arranging, composing, and producing.
In 1991, he
released a solo album, Cool Running,
and followed this up with 1992’s Stepping
into a New World. Other

History of Jazz, and The Soul
Jazz Legacy – The Master Collection Volume 2.
Jay’s

however. In the world of
musical education, he has taught as Purchase College, Ramapo College, and
the State University of New York in Oneonta. He also directs SUNY Oneonta’s
Funk Band, which plays college dates and other local venues, and has
collaborated with a local, upstart rock group that bill themselves as Red
Goodbye.
In 2004, Jay
received special billing as a solo performer at Shenandoah’s Bach Festival.
