He was an acclaimed trombonist and conductor born in
England. He was a member of
the trombone section of the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, Covent
Garden, and the London Philharmonic Orchestra and in 1951 he became an
original member of the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble. In 1974 he took up the post of
Conductor for the Southampton Youth Orchestra. His recordings include Polished
Brass of London - Top Brass, and Baroque Fanfares and Sonatas for
Brass by The London Brass Players, Renaissance Brass by the
Graham Ashton Brass Ensemble and Eine Kleine Brass Musik and Greatest
Hits by the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble.
