Guitarist, keyboardist and percussionist who released an
album titled Assembly in 1985
that is considered a must-have among fusion and progressive rock fans to
this day. In spite of the
popularity of this album, Watson has enjoyed the bulk of his success as an
educator and session musician.
He has recorded with an eclectic variety of artists and groups
including Marty Balin, Harry James, Peggy Lee,
The Mystic Moods Orchestra, James Taylor, and Frank Zappa. A staple on the Hollywood studio circuit,
his film credits include Aladdin,
The Black Stallion, Che!, Dirty Harry, Enter the Dragon, Newsies, Pocahontas,
and Stripes. He attended and has taught at the
University of Southern California, although it is a music scholarship at
California Polytechnic State University that bears his name.
