He is a bass singer and composer born in Central
California. He studied at
Indiana’s Goshen College and took his graduate studies at the University of
Oregon, where he received his doctorate in vocal performance and
composition. Entering into his
professional career he became a teacher at Clayton State University in
Atlanta, Georgia, staying there for a 14-year period and putting together
the baccalaureate program in music.
He moved onto Oregon in 2001 to take up a teaching post at George
Fox University where he currently remains giving tuition in composition and
music theory. He sang with the
Robert Shaw Chamber Singers during the mid 1990s and his compositions are
now being recognised. His
works include “Soliloquy on a Gospel Hymn” which was premiered at the
Goshen College, the chamber opera Aria da Capo, the anthem “I Sing
With Exultation”, Advent Cantata, “Fanfares and Antiphons” for organ,
“February Fanfares” for seven synthesisers and piano and Witnesses: A
Symphony.
