Banker, civic
leader and vocalist from Coatesville, Chester County, Pennsylvania, who obtained
a B.A. in economics and history at Grove City College and went on to attend
St. Joseph’s University, from whence he received his MBA in the field
of finance.
Thomas embarked
on his business career in 1979 when he went to work for the Industrial
Valley Bank.
He worked for
a quarter century in various capacities for Wachovia until eventually
joining Bank of America in 2006.
On 31st January 2008, he was named their Philadelphia
market president and Pennsylvania state president, in addition to his role
as risk manager of their commercial and corporate ventures in the states of
Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
He is also
active with the Historical Society of Pennsylvania and, as of 2008, was
also serving as their co-chair for finance and planning, and treasurer.
On 31st
March 2009, he participated in the 5th annual Read to Me Early
Literacy Program, reading stories to Kindergarten and pre-Kindergarten
students. Not only was he one
of the storytellers, but Bank of America was one of the corporate sponsors
of the event.
Generous with
his time and talent, he sits on the boards of the Committee of Seventy, the
Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, the Historical Society of Pennsylvania,
NPower Pennsylvania, and the Select Greater
Philadelphia/CEO Council of Growth.
He is also on the corporate advisory boards of the Philadelphia
Museum of Art and the National Constitution Center and is the treasurer for
the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance.
His other cultural
endeavors have included a stint as president for the Choral Arts Society of
Philadelphia, and membership in The Philadelphia Singers, the
chorus-in-residence of The Philadelphia Orchestra.
