Nicknamed "Hands of Soul" he is a keyboard and theremin
player born to a musical family.
His brothers are the guitarist Regi, the 3 time Grammy Award nominee
bass player Victor, the Synthaxe Drumstar player Roy aka "Futureman", and
the saxophonist Rudy. With his
brothers they are known as the Wooten Brothers. While still young he and his brothers would appear with
artists such as Curtis Mayfield and War and by the 1970s they performed
alongside Stephanie Mills, The Temptations, Maze and many more. In the 1980s they recorded an album
called The Wootens and he would become a keyboard player and
bandleader for Kashif who was an R&B artist. He moved on from there to sing backing vocals for
Whitney Houston and tour with Scritti Politti and in 1990 he relocated to
Nashville, Tennessee. In 1993
he became a member of The Steve Miller Band and has performed with them
ever since. He also plays
keyboards for his brother Victor and leads his own band Hands of Soul.
