He was a Baroque composer
and violinist born in Bologna, Italy. He worked under the patronage of
Count Orazio Bargellini
and he held the position of member and President of The Accademia Filarmonica
from 1713, and on at least six separate occasions after that. Much influenced by Vivaldi, his compositions
include sonatas, concertos, sinfonias and serenades for various
instruments. His works were
enjoyed in various countries, including
England
where appreciation was shown for their "technical moderation, tight
structures and lucid character."
