Alberti, Giuseppe Matteo (20th September 1685-18th February 1751)

He was a Baroque composer and violinist born in Bologna, Italy.  He worked under the patronage of Count Orazio Bargellini and he held the position of member and President of The Accademia Filarmonica from 1713, and on at least six separate occasions after that.  Much influenced by Vivaldi, his compositions include sonatas, concertos, sinfonias and serenades for various instruments.  His works were enjoyed in various countries, including England where appreciation was shown for their "technical moderation, tight structures and lucid character."
