    Farres Osvaldo (1903-1985)

    He is a composer/songwriter born Fernando Gumersindo ne Farres Vazquez in Quemado de Guines, Cuba.  He hosted the popular show "Bar Melodico de Osvaldo Farres" which aired on Cuban radio for 13 years.  His most famous song is possible "Quizas, Quizas, Quizas" aka "Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps" and was recorded by artists including Nat King Cole and Doris Day.  His music has also appeared on many movies including "Brokeback Mountain", "Buena Vista Social Club" and "Bad Education".  The Puerto Rican trumpeter, Julius Menendez, is the father of Osvaldo Farres' great grandson.  He left Cuba in 1962 and remained in the US in exile until his death.
