He is a songwriter and keyboard player who was born in Washington
DC. He attended Boston
University and became the
organist and final member of The J. Geils Band. He
became the songwriter of the group in collaboration with Peter Wolf,
and their main success was in 1981 with the album Freeze
Frame
which included his self-written
No.1 hit song "Centerfold". His brother Paul directed
several of The J. Geils Band videos.
He produced Debbie Harry's 1986 solo album "Rockbird".
His songs have appeared in movies
that include Sleepover, Lucky Numbers and The Wedding
Singer
.
