    Kellum, Murray

Singer-songwriter who is perhaps best known for his 1963 cover of Henry Strezlecki's "Long Tall Texan", later recorded by The Beach Boys, and the 1964 novelty hit "I Dreamed I Was A Beatle".  He also fronted several bands, including The Dawnbreakers, The Ramblers, and The Rythum Four.  Although major and consistent success eluded him, Murray Kellum continued to write songs, including the royalty gold mine "If You're Gonna Play in Texas (You've Gotta Have a Fiddle in the Band)" (with Dan Mitchell) which was a hit for country super-group Alabama.
