He is a singer-songwriter from Birmingham,
England. He was a founder member of the rock
band City Boy in the early 1970s, who turned
professional in 1975 after playing folk music in the Birmingham
clubs. Their success came when
the song "5-7-0-5" went into the Top 10 of the UK
charts in 1978. The group
disbanded in 1982 after their recording contract finished and they failed
to find another. Later in 1982
he formed the group The Maisonettes with keyboard player Mark Tibenham and session drummer Nick Parry. Their song "
Heartache Avenue"
reached No. 7 in the
UK
chart but this was their only success.
