Born as Daniel Bangalter, he
is a French composer and producer who is mainly associated with his work in
Latin and Europop/disco music and released his
own songs including "Canada"
in 1976. He produced the Martinique
group, Gibson Brothers in the mid 1970s, who were successful throughout Europe
with songs he had co-written, such as "Cuba"
and "Ooh! What a Life". He has co-written with
composers such as Jean Kluger, Alec Francfort (aka Alex Gibson) and Edward Heyman and his music has
appeared in films including North
Dallas Forty and 54. He has worked with many Latin
artists including Dalida and the group Ottawan who had a hit with his
"D.I.S.C.O.". His
son is the movie producer and director Thomas Bangalter,
who is also a member of Daft Punk.
