    Berlin Chamber Orchestra (Kammerorchester Berlin)

This orchestra was founded in 1945 and is among the oldest in the German speaking world.  It was led by its artistic director, Helmut Koch, until 1975 and he has since been followed by Kurt Masur, Peter Schreier, Vittori Negri and thecurrent position holder, Katrin Scholz,  among others.  It has gained international renown and has toured throughout the world and has been awarded with the Goethe Prize by the City of Berlin for their musical achievements.  They have made many recordings and were awarded the Grand Prix du Disque for the CDs of Monteverdi's L'Orfeo, Mozart's Betulia Liberata and Vivaldi's Juditha Triumphans.
