This trio was formed in 1992 after the violinist
Elizabeth Wallfisch had been invited to record a series of Italian violin
sonatas for the BBC. There were 12 programmes
recorded and because the three musicians enjoyed making it they stayed
together and took part in a music festival and began touring. They have since toured all over the
world performing in concerts, at festivals and in radio and television
broadcasts. They toured Australia
in 1993 and debuted in the Unites States, in New
York,
in 1994. They have made several
recordings under the name The Locatelli Trio and Convivium
which cover works by Italian and early English composers as well as a
collaboration on Handel's Sonatas. The Convivium
was a social gathering to appreciate food and wine in Roman times.
