This orchestra was established at the Stas Namin Centre in 1989
with Konstantin Krimets as the conductor and the members made up of graduates
from the St.
Petersburg. Kiev
and Moscow Conservatories. Since
it started is has given many national and international performances in
concerts and as part of festivals.
In 2001 Ogan Duran'narc
became the Head Condcutor and almost immediately
led four successful concerts in the Tchaikovsky Hall and the Grand Hall of
the Moscow Conservatory. Other conductors include Arnold Katz, Igor Golovchin, Dmitry Yablonsky and Alexander
Anissimov. In 2002 they gave a
series of charity concerts in commemoration of international terrorism
victims. They have premiered recordings
by modern composers including Pavlova, Schnittke and Eshpai and from
they have made nearly numerous recordings that include works by classic
composers, film soundtracks and music for cartoons and computer games. Known for their symphonic rock
recordings of artists such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Jimi
Hendrix, they toured Great Britain with the Electric Light Orchestra
- Part II on their The Moscow
Symphony Rocks tour and the concert video made it into the UK charts.
