They
are Michael Newman and Laura Oltman and as a duo have been touring
nationally and internationally for over twenty years. Featured on BBC Radio 3, The Larry
King Show, National Public Radio and in various
newspapers and journals, they have become one of America's recognized
instrumental ensembles. They
have recorded critically acclaimed CDs and along with their performances and
collaborations with orchestras and artists that include Marvin Hamlisch, Pittsburgh
Symphony Pops and Jay Ungar and commissioned the composer Dusan Bogdanovic to write the
sextet "Sevdalinka" for them to
perform with the Turtle Island Quartet. Recipients of many awards they are
seen as "innovators in the chamber music field" and are the
Ensemble-in-Residence at Mannes College of Music
in New York and Artists-in-Residence at Lafayette College. They are the founders and directors
of the Raritan River Music Festival.
