This orchestra was initially founded in 1953 by
Jean-Francois Paillard as the Jean-Marie Leclair Instrumental
Ensemble. This would change
its name to the Jean-Francois Paillard Ensemble in 1959 with their founder
acting as their conductor.
They have recorded several albums, mainly of Baroque music, and with
many musicians and soloists such as Maurice Andre, Michel Becquet, Yves
Favre, Jacques Forquet and Guy Touvron. They have also toured throughout the United States and Europe
and were the orchestra used for the 1984 French movie soundtrack of Le Tartuffe.
