This Chicago
based group that has been described as being in the rock/psychedelic genre of
music has been together since 1998.
It was founded as The Radio Hour 491, before later losing the 491, by
the singer-songwriter Tim Hort who was recognised
by Chicago’s 95.1FM when
he was declared Year’s Best of Live and Unplugged Artists –
Radio Show.
The players are veterans of the music business and as
members of The Radio Hour they have released two CDs, an EP, several singles,
compilations and made music score recordings. Through these recordings they have
managed to gain them some national and international attention. Their CDs
are the 1999 Radio Hour 491 (which
made them the A&R Pick for 1999 by CMJ New Music) and the 2002 The Radio Hour.
They have been described as “REM in an X-Box”
and “Pink Floyd meets Paul Simon” and their shows have become
known for their acoustic experimentation coupled with imagery and dance. They received recognition in 2005
when they became a Midwest Finalist for Best Artist for Discmakers/Billboard
Independent Music World Series.
The group are based mainly in the locality of their
home town of Chicago but have also
given performances in cities such as Milwaukee
