     Sonos Handbell Ensemble

This ensemble was founded in 1990 in the San Francisco Bay Area of the United States to bring the music of handbells into the public arena.  Quickly gaining recognition they have encouraged the growth of compositions and given commissions in this genre to composers such as Libby Larsen and William Ludtke, who wrote his "Suite for Handbells and Orchestra".  Appearing at many major Californian venues with groups such as the San Francisco Symphony Chorus and the Oakland East Bay Symphony.  They have released several recordings that include works by major composers and Christmas music.  Their music director is the pianist James Meredith.  In the world of musical education they give regular workshops in the art of bell ringing.
