South-West German Chamber Orchestea Pforzheim (Sudwestdeutsches Kammerorchester Pforzheim)

Friedrich Tilegant, who had been a former student of Paul Hindemith, established this chamber orchestra in 1950.  This group of 14 musicians is a rarity in that it is one of the only full-time chamber orchestras in Europe and it has gained international following through its festival appearances and world tours.  Recording over 180 records and CDs on varies record labels it has appeared with artists that include Maurice Andre, Frans Bruggen and Yehudi Menuhin. Recognition for these recordings has come in the form of the Grand Prix du Disque, the Monteverdi Prize and the Prox Artur Honegger.  Following the death of Friedrich Tilegant in 1968 the ensemble came under the leadership of Paul Angerer, followed by Vladislav Czarnecki and now it’s current Music Director Sebastian Tewinkel.
