George Bragg established this non-profit professional boys choir for 26 boys in 1946 in Denton, Texas, to provide a "structured environment for the development of a world-class performing choir of boys". They went under the name of the Denton Civic Boy Choir until 1957, when they moved to Forth Worth, Texas, and became known as The Texas Boys Choir. The boys are taught by experienced teachers in an accredited school and have since become internationally recognised, making tours throughout the world and nationally on a regular basis. One of their most remembered performances was on 22^nd November 1963 when they became one of the last to perform for John F. Kennedy at the Chamber of Commerce Breakfast in Fort Worth. He was assassinated several hours later. Winning several awards, they won the Young Boys' Choir Gold Medal at the International Choir Olympics in 2004 and have also won two Grammy Awards for Best Choral Performance. Their many recordings include Christmas in the Great Hall, Of Bells and Angels, One World and Hodie Cantamus. Until 2007 Brian Stratton was the Artistic Direct and his position was taken over by the Interim Director, Mark Stamper who also directs the Singing Girls of Texas alongside his current responsibilities with the Boys Choir.
